There has been a lot of discussion lately about opportunity ads, where people are never average but standing in front of mansions with their planes, boats and status cars in the background. This is my opinion on that hype....
I Made $800,000 Last Month! Seriously!c2002, Debbi Bressler, ProfitCoaches.com Here is a good side business for you. How about buying a fancy car to park in front of a fancy house....and then rent it out so those shysters can have their picture taken in front of it?? You would think people would be smart enough not to be fooled even if they DID have that stuff. Is it paid for? Are they in debt up to their eyeballs. I can tell you from my experience in this industry over 12 years, that a lot of them are stone cold broke. Case in point: Had a guy who told me he was a top dog in his networking company - I have made so much money I have quit my job - who came to look at my house. Sent him to my mortgage guy to get pre qualified so he could make an offer. Bill told me the guy had such bad credit that he would not qualify for our guest quarters! I am with you. I drive a 1999 Chevy Minivan. We are moving from Houston to Florida and downsizing from a 3800+ home to a 2200 sq ft. one. I would much rather be totally debt free than try to impress some stranger! (I think the book The Millionaire Next Door described the same phenemenon....10 year old cars, homes well below their income level, etc.) And the hype makes people goofy. I was talking to a lady the other day who said her goal was to be earning $100,000+ in one year and she had 6 hours to spend a week. So....how much do you earn now? "$32,000" How long have you been there? "23 years" Do you work full time? "yes, 40-45 hours a week" How many weeks vacation do you get? "3 weeks" Write this down, okay? So, right now you work 2,107 hours a year (based on an average of 43 hours/week) for $32,000. And you would like to spend 85% less time (6 hours a week) to earn 313% more ($100,000) in one years time. In addition, it took you 276 months to achieve that $32,000....but you want to be at this goal in 12 months or 4% of the time it took you to reach $32,000. Is that correct? Well, you know,
some people might tell you that you can achieve that with their business.
In fact, I might be the only person who is honest with you. Looking
at those figures, do you feel its realistic? Do you want me to lie to
you and tell you what you want to hear.....or share some realistic ideas
of what it will take and what you can expect to achieve?
